About The Position

Apple's Media, Graphics, & Compute (MGC) team is seeking an Engineering Program Manager to lead software development work for Media Intelligence. The team builds systems and technologies behind intelligent media experiences across Apple's product line, including Photos, FaceTime, Camera, and system-wide features. The role works directly with software engineers and machine learning researchers to deliver features across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. The Media Intelligence team spans systems and performance engineering, video and multimodal machine learning, and generative AI for image and video. The Program Manager will plan and coordinate feature delivery across ML research, systems and performance engineering, and client teams. This includes maintaining multi-year roadmaps and implementation plans, managing dependencies among ML models, on-device systems, and product features, and coordinating the path from model development to product shipping through integration, performance and power optimization, and quality validation. The role also maintains communication with partner teams, tracks project status, risks, and opportunities, and communicates engineering progress to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of project or program management experience in a high-tech environment.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing, client-side software features or projects from concept through delivery.
  • Proven leadership on major, cross-functional software projects.
  • Strong technical proficiency in machine learning (AIML), computer vision, video, or graphics.
  • BS/MS in EE, CS, or CE, or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Ability to provide succinct, accurate executive summaries of project status and complex engineering situations.
  • Track record of quickly understanding technical concepts across a wide range of fields.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing ML-driven programs, such as model training and evaluation cycles, dataset dependencies, and moving research into production.
  • Familiarity with generative AI, including diffusion models, multimodal LLMs, and AI agents.
  • Experience with on-device performance, power, and hardware-acceleration trade-offs, including GPU, Neural Engine, and SIMD.
  • Experience with video coding and processing systems, including codecs, formats, and containers.
  • Experience developing software for consumer media platforms, such as mobile, media players, or camera and photo applications.
  • Experience with continuous integration and test automation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and maintain project implementation plans for Media Intelligence commitments using Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodology.
  • Maintain a multi-year roadmap of feature commitments, including dependencies between ML models, on-device systems, and product features.
  • Drive cross-functional delivery with ML research, systems and performance engineering, and client teams such as Photos, FaceTime, and Camera.
  • Coordinate the path from model development to product shipping, including model integration, performance and power optimization, and quality validation.
  • Ensure strong communication channels between Media Intelligence, other media teams, and engineering partners across Apple.
  • Track and report project or technology-area progress, risks, and opportunities.
