About The Position

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is a global media agency that carries out United States civilian international broadcasting. This position is for employment as a personal services contractor with VOA News. The Media Asset Management Technician II will assist in organizing and maintaining broadcast media asset archives, including video, audio, photographs, and digital files. This role involves applying standardized metadata schemes, supporting tracking of capacity consumption, overseeing incoming feeds, monitoring file transfers, performing quality control checks, managing proxy file generation, cataloging media assets, retrieving archived materials, assisting with digitization and preservation of legacy media, verifying metadata accuracy, performing routine quality checks on content and storage systems, labeling and storing media, maintaining inventories, supporting asset transfer and backup, logging data into the digital asset management system, researching and logging feeds, and operating computers. The candidate must complete tasks accurately and independently prior to deadlines and function effectively as a team member. All personal service contractors must pass a thorough background check.

Requirements

  • Apply rigorous standardized metadata schemes to all raw data and finished product
  • Support Tracking real time capacity consumption across SAN and NAS
  • Oversees scheduled incoming feeds, fiber transmissions and digital contributions to assure reliable capture.
  • Monitor automated file watchers for correct file transfer
  • Perform spot QCs on ingest files
  • Assist in Managing Proxy file generation
  • Catalog and enter media asset information into archive and media management systems.
  • Retrieve archived materials in response to requests from production, editorial, and communications staff.
  • Assist with digitization, file conversion, and preservation of legacy media formats.
  • Verify the accuracy of metadata and archive records to support efficient content retrieval.
  • Perform routine quality checks on archived content and storage systems.
  • Label, sort, and store physical and digital media according to established procedures.
  • Maintain archive inventories and assist with records management activities.
  • Support the transfer, backup, and storage of media assets.
  • Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOA’s digital asset management system.
  • Researches, gathers, and logs video and audio feeds.
  • Works with supervisor to be familiar with the latest/new technology.
  • Operates computers.
  • Completes tasks accurately and independently prior to deadline, in accordance with production priorities.
  • Functions as effective member of a team.
