This position involves administering medications to residents following facility policies and procedures. The Med Tech will be responsible for noting and reporting medication errors, assisting in the development of error prevention programs, and maintaining accurate records. The role requires collaboration with various healthcare professionals, including physicians and pharmacists, and reporting resident complaints to the Director of Nursing Services. Participation in facility surveys, Quality Assurance programs, and the Pharmaceutical Services Committee is also expected. The Med Tech will accurately prepare, administer, and document medications, ensuring all medications are properly labeled and handled according to facility guidelines. They will also manage medication receipt errors, document instances of medication refusal, and promptly report any errors or adverse reactions to supervisors. Verifying resident identity before administration and accurately recording vital signs are key duties. The position also involves following procedures for residents self-administering medications and understanding medical abbreviations. Continuous education is required to maintain certification and stay updated on professional changes. Confidentiality of resident information and facility systems is paramount.
