About The Position

The Medication Technician administers medications within the scope of their license and provides assigned residents with daily care and services in accordance with established care plans. The role works under the general supervision of a licensed nurse and is scheduled Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., with options to pick up additional hours. The position supports residents' personal care, mobility, meals, safety, social activities, and comfort. The Medication Technician observes and documents residents' health and emotional conditions, communicates changes and concerns to nurses, and follows facility policies, care standards, and applicable regulations. The role may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals. Employees are expected to deliver courteous, responsive, quality service and follow all company policies and procedures.

Ability to lift 50 pounds; moving, lifting, or transferring residents may involve lifting up to 75 pounds.
Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry patients.
Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue.
Ability to stand for extended periods and bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach; fine motor skills.
Ability to execute tasks independently, express oneself clearly and effectively verbally, concentrate on moderate details with frequent interruptions, and maintain visual acuity and hearing alertness.

Nice To Haves

Six months or more of experience in a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility.

Responsibilities

Administer medications according to provider instructions and the Medication Administration Record, within the scope of the applicable license.
Document medication administration, effectiveness, and side effects; report adverse reactions and side effects to a supervisor or Director of Nursing.
Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, skin and nail care, oral hygiene, and shaving.
Assist residents in dining rooms, serve and assist with meals, and monitor residents as assigned.
Initiate and participate in leisure activities; encourage residents to socialize and participate in programs and activities.
Observe and document residents' health, behavior, and physical and emotional condition; promptly report changes and significant events to the nurse.
Respond promptly and courteously to residents' requests, call signals, bells, and intercoms.
Promote resident safety by following infection-control, blood-borne pathogen, fire-safety, hazardous-materials, and other facility safety practices, and report unsafe conditions to the nurse.
Assist residents in preparing for appointments and social programs and in walking with or without self-help devices as instructed.
Routinely check that residents' personal care needs are met according to their wishes.
Provide special resident services offered by the facility.
Support residents with activities of daily living, including transfers, getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, toileting, standing, walking, exercise, and taking vital signs.
Communicate with nurses about residents' conditions, changes, and concerns.
Provide companionship, comfort, and support to residents.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
