About The Position

The Medical-Surgical Nursing Assistant (certified or non-certified), also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele PCU Nursing Assistant, provides basic patient care, monitors vital signs, supports mobility, and promotes patient safety. The role supports adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while they are on heart monitors. Nursing Assistants observe patients, report changes, and help maintain a safe, supportive environment that promotes recovery. Entry-level and inexperienced NAs or CNAs are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate, or obtain it within 6 months of hire, and maintain current.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate.
• At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Help patients with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring, to help prevent skin breakdown.
• Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake and output, as applicable.
• Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
• Observe patients and report changes in their condition to nurses.
• Assist with wound care under the direction of an RN, as applicable.
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms.
• Help keep the environment clean and safe.
• Assist with transporting patients within the hospital.
