About The Position

The Med Aide plays a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of residents in assisted living facilities across the United States. This position is responsible for administering medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare professionals, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols. The Med Aide also monitors residents for any adverse reactions or changes in condition, promptly reporting concerns to nursing staff or supervisors. By providing compassionate and attentive care, the Med Aide helps maintain a safe and comfortable living environment that promotes residents' independence and quality of life. Ultimately, this role is essential in bridging the gap between medical directives and daily resident care within assisted living settings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a UW-Green Bay Medication Administration course
• Basic knowledge of medication administration and assisted living care principles.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet health screening requirements.
• Assisted Living Care
• Medication administration skills
• Communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working as a Med Aide or in assisted living care.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Additional certifications related to elder care or healthcare support.
• Fire Safety certification
• First Aid & Choking certification

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments to residents following established protocols and guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Observe and monitor residents for side effects, adverse reactions, or changes in health status, reporting any concerns immediately.
• Assist residents with daily living activities as needed, including mobility support and personal hygiene.
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff, healthcare providers, residents, and their families to ensure coordinated care.
• Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with medication administration practices and assisted living care standards.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations related to medication administration and resident care.
