The Mechatronic Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide essential skills and knowledge for maintenance employees. Upon completion, participants will have fulfilled the requirements for an Associate's degree and gained demonstrated on-the-job training experience. This program combines practical, hands-on experience with academic instruction, partnering with Virginia Western Community College (VWCC) to offer a 2-year mechatronics degree. The work schedule will be variable, accommodating both classroom time and on-the-job training (OJT) days in the mill, where apprentices will work alongside a designated mentor. Graduates will transition into a maintenance role at the pay rate of a mill tech, eventually filling a rotating shift position.
