The Maintenance Team at Metropolis at Metrotown is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician. This role is primarily responsible for executing comprehensive repair and preventative maintenance programs for all mechanical systems, building management systems, and life safety equipment. As a key team member, the technician will ensure optimal performance of critical building systems while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency. This unionized position offers competitive compensation, including an annual bonus, overtime pay for hours above 35 per week, and on-call premiums, providing an excellent opportunity to grow a career with a global leader in real estate services.

Requirements

  • Valid BC or Inter-Provincial 4th Class Power Engineer's Certificate
  • 3-5 years of practical experience in building mechanical systems maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC control systems and building automation
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and ability to work at heights
  • Valid BC Driver's License
  • Availability to work day and evening shifts (7am-9:30pm) and participate in on-call rotation
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification such as Refrigeration or Electrical Trade Qualification (TQ)
  • Experience with building management systems and controls
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Strong resourcefulness and problem-solving skills

  • Team player with a collaborative approach to facility operations

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of building mechanical and electrical systems, including lighting/electrical systems, chilled/heating water systems, rooftop equipment, compressors, boilers, HVAC control systems, and fire alarm/sprinkler systems
  • Perform all required maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal system performance and building operations
  • Monitor and assist contractors in the efficient performance of their contracted duties
  • Record mechanical readings at regular intervals and maintain accurate documentation
  • Maintain and execute the preventative maintenance program for all life safety equipment
  • Respond to building issues promptly to meet tight deadlines and minimize operational disruptions
  • Foster positive relationships with tenants through professional communication and responsive service
