About The Position

The Mechanical Technician performs mechanical repairs and maintenance as part of scheduled preventive maintenance and assists with unscheduled mechanical breakdowns during production. The role requires a self-motivated person with strong communication skills who can work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. The position reports to the Departmental Supervisor and works a first-shift schedule.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of industrial mechanical experience.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Working knowledge of tools and materials common to the mechanical trade.
• Ability to read and comprehend mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Basic mechanical knowledge, including drive systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and use motorized equipment such as forklifts, tuggers, and jig lifts.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with others in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• A two-year degree in electrical, electronics, or electro-mechanical studies from an accredited school is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance as part of the scheduled preventive maintenance process.
• Assist with repairing unscheduled mechanical breakdowns during production.
• Participate in the Live Oak Complex safety process, comply with safety rules and procedures, and participate on a plant safety team.
• Work the posted preventive maintenance schedule, which is typically Monday through Friday and may occasionally include weekends.
• Provide after-hours or weekend support as needed.
• Interact effectively with management, staff, vendors, and customers, and work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Complete assigned work orders and projects.
• Satisfactorily complete Continuous Skills Development (CSD) training requirements.
