About The Position

As a Mechanical Technician at Voyager Technologies, you will lead hands-on assembly, integration, and test activities for advanced mechanical systems supporting space and national security programs. You’ll bring deep technical expertise, sound judgment, and a builder’s mindset to work that has tangible mission impact — from prototype through flight hardware. This is a senior-level individual contributor role for a technician who can independently own complex builds, develop custom tooling and test setups, and mentor others through challenging integration problems.

Requirements

  • 7–12 years of progressive experience as a mechanical technician, ideally in aerospace, defense, space systems, or similarly regulated, precision-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex assembly and integration efforts independently, including ownership of fixtures, tooling, and test setups.
  • Strong proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and assembly procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with common measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, torque tools) and basic instrument calibration.
  • Working knowledge of basic machining, molding, and casting operations and the equipment associated with each.
  • Must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3).
  • Must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or equivalent military or trade-school training in mechanical technology, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working under formal quality systems (AS9100, ISO 9001) and/or in cleanroom environments.
  • Familiarity with environmental, vibration, or thermal-vacuum testing.
  • Active or prior U.S. security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assembly and integration activities, design and implement complex test setups, develop custom fixtures and tooling, and optimize the testing process for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Apply advanced skills in component and subsystem integration, troubleshoot assembly issues, and contribute to the development of test procedures and protocols.
  • Independently set up and operate common measurement instruments, perform basic calibrations, and acquire test data using standard measurement techniques.
  • Handle complex mechanical assembly tasks, including assembling intricate components and subsystems, interpreting and modifying assembly instructions, troubleshooting assembly problems, and performing quality control checks during the assembly process.
  • Perform basic machining tasks and operate common machining tools and equipment.
  • Perform basic molding and casting tasks, prepare molds and casting materials, and follow established molding and casting procedures.
