As an Mechanical Maintenance Apprentice in our Wyandotte, MI production facility, you will make an impact on the world with a fundamental focus on sustainability. As an Instrument and Electrical Technician Apprentice, you will be a part of a team which produces products that go into ski boots, seat cushions, car parts, sports equipment, pharmaceuticals, and home care products, and more. Starting on or about August, 2026, you will begin or continue an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Multi-Skilled Manufacturing Maintenance program at Henry Ford Community College while working and learning at our Wyandotte, MI production facility from some of the best in the business. BASF will cover the entire cost of your educational program, including books.

Requirements

  • Have a HS Diploma or GED
  • Can work in a plant environment and lift 50lbs
  • Can work 8hr fixed day shift (with the possibility for weekends and holidays)
  • Will enroll in a degree program to launch a career in Manufacturing
  • Can work on different structure levels, requiring the climbing of stairs, walking on metal walkways and grating, working at heights, etc., as well as being able to work in areas both inside and outside in varying weather conditions.
  • This position involves work within classified hazardous areas requiring intrinsically safe equipment, tools, and work practices.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, rebuild, and repair a wide variety of production, processing machines and equipment.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments for repairs and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Use measurement devices, calipers, and micrometers to inspect machine parts.
  • Support non-production maintenance and repair plumbing, filter changes, lighting, minor electrical, etc.).
  • Proactively finds ways to improve plant uptime while performing preventative maintenance (PMs).
  • Make recommendations to improve existing PMs to improve effectiveness and updates PM’s, modifications including equipment changes.
  • Contact suppliers for troubleshooting/repair assistance.
  • System and component troubleshooting and repair of production and site equipment.
  • Rebuild and/or maintain a wide variety of production and site equipment.
  • Support all EHS policies and procedures while promoting a safe working environment.
