About The Position

The Electro/Mechanical Apprentice will receive on-the-job training (OTJ) of various CNC machine tools under the guidance of a senior KRC Field Service Technician. This role involves assisting senior technicians with dismantling, cleaning, and preparing machines for shipment, as well as disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding machine tool subassemblies and assemblies. The apprentice will also organize, tag, and mark components, perform basic lubrication, cleaning, and inspection of mechanical components, and identify, repair, or replace damaged components. The role requires the safe and correct use of basic hand and power tools, adherence to safety procedures and work instructions, travel to customer facilities, accurate documentation of work activities and expenses, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area. Work assignments will be via dispatched Work Orders, with technical instruction provided by fellow technicians, leads, OEM support personnel, manuals, or training documentation. The apprentice will interact with customer management and operators, as well as KRC maintenance management, purchasing support, internal administration, leads, and other technicians.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude suitable for machine tool training
  • Aptitude for multiple machine tool specifications and test equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
  • Mechanical hand tools and toolbox
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Intermediate troubleshooting abilities
  • Standing for long periods

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Willingness to work in a customer environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirements
