About The Position

The Electro/Mechanical Apprentice will primarily focus on on-the-job-training (OTJ) of various CNC machine tools under the guidance of a senior KRC Technician. This role involves assisting senior technicians with dismantling, cleaning, and preparing machines for shipment, as well as disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding machine tool subassemblies and assemblies. The apprentice will also perform basic lubrication, cleaning, and inspection of mechanical components, identify, repair, or replace damaged components, and use basic hand and power tools safely and correctly. The position requires following safety procedures and work instructions, traveling to customer facilities, documenting work activities accurately, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area. Work assignments will come from the Projects Manager, Projects Coordinator, or Leads, with technical instruction provided by senior technicians, Leads, Projects support personnel, OEM Maintenance Manuals, or training class documentation. The role involves interaction with customer production management and operators, OEM management, maintenance support, and parts personnel, as well as KRC maintenance management, purchasing support, internal administration, Leads, and other technicians.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude suitable for machine tool training
  • Aptitude for multiple machine tool specifications and test equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
  • Mechanical hand tools and toolbox
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
  • Good interpersonal communication skills, and computer skills
  • Intermediate troubleshooting abilities
  • Standing for long periods
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to learn
  • Must be willing to work in a customer environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirements
  • The ability to work as a team player as well as independently is required

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with dismantling, cleaning, and preparing machines for shipment

  • Organize, tag, and mark components for future assembly
  • Perform basic lubrication, cleaning, and inspection of mechanical components

  • Follow safety procedures and work instructions
  • Travel to customer’s facilities
  • Document work activities as expenses, timely and accurately
