About The Position

R.J. Corman Railroad Switching Company is seeking a Mechanical Team Member for our industrial switching location in Westlake, LA. As a Mechanical Team Member, you will perform maintenance on locomotives, railroad cars, equipment, service repairs, and perform FRA inspections. This is a people-oriented, safety-driven career where you will take initiative and serve as a strategic partner for a growing company.

Requirements

• Experienced in welding (Mig and Arc) required
• Knowledge of power and hydraulic tools
• Valid drivers license is required for this position.
• Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner
• Requires frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching
• Able to frequently lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30lbs
• Able to push and pull with 100lbs of force, the force required to push/pull hand brakes

Nice To Haves

• Experience in rail car repair preferred

Responsibilities

• Locomotive repairs including mechanical, air and electrical.
• Welding and oxygen/acetylene torching.
• General repairs of other equipment if necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintain safe and clean work area.
