About The Position

The Boeing Company is looking for a Mid-Level Mechanical Systems Test Engineer to join the Systems Laboratory team in Seattle, WA. This position is on the leading edge of aerospace systems development and are responsible for the verification and validation of mechanical airplane systems. In addition, this will also include: Design test systems to simulate loads. Systems may be active or passive, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical Design test structures, load systems, environmental enclosures, and simulated control surfaces Design mechanical hardware and electrical packaging for power laboratories Provide mechanical engineering support during hardware build to fabrication teams Test actuators and systems including primary and secondary flight controls and landing gear Test aircraft hydraulic components including pumps, accumulators, tubing, hoses, fittings, reservoirs, valves, fluids, etc. Test hydraulic systems and sub-systems Simulate aircraft flight deck for engineering testing of avionic/ human interfaces

Requirements

  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 3+ years of experience with 3D modeling tools
  • Experience using all the following Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience documenting and clearly communicating test results to customers

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering
  • Familiarity with electrical packaging hardware design
  • Experience with collaboration with electrical and mechanical fabrication teams
  • Experience in hydraulic systems, load systems, and mechanical design
  • Experience following processes, procedures, and specifications
  • Experience performing laboratory testing to standards (i.e. ASTM, SAE)

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and verification of test methods
  • Develops detailed test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition, needed to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of the test plan
  • Develops solutions to calibration systems problems of limited scope and impact
  • Designs test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements
  • Uses analytical tools to verify the design
  • Analyzes, processes, and formats data to customer requirements
  • Reviews test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
  • Prepares and publishes test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements
  • Presents test results internally
  • Archives data and reports
  • Trains others
  • Works under general direction
