About The Position

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location. This role involves supervising, coordinating, and performing additions and changes to network hardware, infrastructure server environments, and operating systems. The engineer will investigate, analyze, recommend, configure, install, and test new network hardware and software. Responsibilities include providing direct support for daily operations of network hardware and operating systems, evaluating system utilization, monitoring response times, and offering primary support for detecting and correcting operational problems. The position requires troubleshooting at the physical and logical levels of the network, working with measurement hardware and software, and understanding communication protocols. Participation in planning, design, technical review, and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and operating systems for voice and data communication networks is essential. The role also includes performing systems management and integration functions, exhibiting proficiency with virtualization technologies and network administration, and maintaining network infrastructure standards including TCP/IP. The engineer will provide technical consultation, training, and support to IT staff as designated by the government, diagnose and resolve complex communication problems, and be responsible for the design, deployment, evaluation, testing, certification, patching, and addressing interoperability issues of storage & backup systems and their dependencies. Ensuring systems are current with approved patches, assisting with certification and system accreditation tasks, composing SOPs, and Quick Reference guides are also key duties. This position provides top-level technical expertise for the design and development of a client/server environment, develops client/server system strategy and the necessary infrastructure design, advises on technological purchases related to processing, data storage, data access, and applications development, and sets standards for the organization's client/server relational database structure. The role involves advising management on the feasibility of potential future projects.

Requirements

6 years of experience Microsoft Windows, Active Directory
Understanding of NIST 800 series publications and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance
Must be a U.S. Citizen
An active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required to perform this work.
Candidates are required to have an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Responsibilities

Supervise, coordinate and/or design, develop and perform additions and changes to network hardware, infrastructure server environments, and operating systems, and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working with communication protocols.
