About The Position

Rolls-Royce is seeking a creative, talented, and results-driven Mechanical Systems Design Lead to join their LibertyWorks team. This role offers the chance to work on developmental Rolls-Royce programs, tackling complex technological challenges within a global, multi-disciplinary team. The Mechanical Systems Design Lead will be responsible for creating engineering solutions that meet functional and physical requirements for developmental Product Systems and Sub-Systems, ensuring robustness and potentially paving the way for new manufacturing capabilities. Key responsibilities include ensuring the on-time delivery and quality of component design definition artifacts such as documents, models, and definitions that meet system and sub-system requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, OR Master’s degree in engineering, with 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, OR JD/PhD in Engineering
Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated experience in the design, analysis, and verification of complex aerospace mechanical components and/or systems.
Demonstrated experience in progressing designs/changes through a gated review process.
Experience with aerospace power transmission components and structures.
Expertise in the following software applications: Siemens NX, Siemens Teamcenter, Microsoft Excel
Expertise in dimensional tolerance stack-ups and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Knowledge of gas turbine subsystems and components and their function and operation

Responsibilities

Supports the development and execution of the strategy with respect to their area of specialism; is regarded as a thought leader.
Leads the definition of capability projects including capturing requirements, creating proposals, achieving stakeholder approval, leading design reviews and architecture development, component definition and verification planning, as well as customer integration.
Supports the development and application of new capabilities; leads capability development projects.
Leads the resolution of new and emerging technical, compliance and business problems using analytical processes and professional judgement.
Proactively accesses internal and external networks of fellow specialists to further the understanding of the specialist subject; supports the implementation of strategic collaborative relationships.
Provides technical direction to peers and more junior professionals, and technical leadership to teams and projects within their specialism.
Supports the definition of skill and professional knowledge within their area of specialism; identifies, co-ordinates and delivers training; supports the development of other specialists; provides active mentoring.
Ensures appropriate policies, standards and best practices are defined, shared and adopted.
Leads the sharing of Best Practice; represents the area as an authority in their defined subject; provides concise justification for decisions; records and captures salient information in reports and systems.
