About The Position

This is a Design Engineer position in Structural/Mechanical Engineering for Completions Engineering. Responsibilities primarily involve engineering design, modeling, and drafting of new and derivative versions of interior furnishings and wire harnesses as part of outfitting new aircraft. Examples include custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, closets, storage compartments, interior peripheries, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations. The design engineer will design installations for commodities along with necessary airframe modifications to meet load requirements of the interior installation. Engineering design work includes the creation of drawings/models using either AutoCAD or CATIA V5. Experience with AutoCAD and Catia V5 preferred. Design engineer will employ design standards consistent with company standards and accepted design methods. Engineer will be required to liaison with the shop on engineering issues. Design assignments are executed under the direction of a Lead engineer or Group Head to meet the manufacturing schedule. Additional responsibilities are out lined in the job description and as assigned by the Lead or Structural/Mechanical Engineering Group Head.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 18 months related Engineering experience.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts in both written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Catia V5 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with the shop on engineering issues.
  • Executing design assignments under the direction of a Lead engineer or Group Head to meet the manufacturing schedule.
  • Solving typical engineering problems within assigned discipline.
  • Providing technical assistance to engineering staff and contributing to completion of project milestones.
  • Responsible for a complex engineering assignment, or a full project of lesser complexity.
  • Following established schedules while developing plans for engineering assignments.
  • Obtaining appropriate level of supervisor approvals for work accuracy and adequacy.
  • Proficiently applying company/organization policies and procedures.
  • Actively working to improve daily processes, and ensuring all work meets customer requirements.
  • Maintaining a current and up-to-date knowledge of developments and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in assigned field of expertise.
