About The Position

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for an A220 Mechanical Quality Inspector (2nd Shift) to join our team based in Mobile, AL. As the A220 Mechanical Quality Inspector (2nd Shift), you will contribute to investigations and root cause analysis into quality/ technical issues reported by the business team and customer, ensuring there is appropriate containment and archiving, and that corrective and curative actions are taken by the accountable function through multifunctional teams. You will perform Quality Inspections as per defined standards, Final Check and Attestation, Stop Points, Out of sequence work, including critical activities (when not delegated). You will ensure Operational Surveillance (people, product and process). You will also provide feedback and coaching to Operations & Support Functions on Quality issues and observations from Operational Surveillance. Finally, you will actively participate in process improvements.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience in an aviation company with an emphasis on mechanical and/or structural components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in the production line.
  • Handling and use of inspection tools for length measuring techniques (mechanical, electrical)
  • Eligible for employment in the US without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in a Quality Inspector position.
  • Relevant Airline/Aviation experience is desirable
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License, an A&P license including inspection authorization is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft in the context of the authorization of manufacturer operation.
  • Prepare and perform visual, incoming, first article, final inspections during aircraft manufacture for compliance with design specifications, customers and certification requirements.
  • Document the technical inspections performed in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP production orders SAP-based and the relevant IT systems by inspection remarks and complete other aircraft documents as well as prepare first article inspection reports.
  • Support troubleshooting, Functional Test Procedures(FTPs) and participate in Quality Survey requests.
  • Compile all technical data of non-conformance in order to launch the NCMS-based quality discrepancy sheets for the professional assessment in accordance with the manufacturing engineering documentation.
  • Document all the results of the technical inspector in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP based IT system.
  • Attain skills to perform audits of Non-Conformance Rework Orders as part of the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Perform audits/reviews of workbooks to validate PV approval and process adherence.
  • Track and maintain components during the Non Conformance process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
