Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience on large-scale construction projects with a focus on a specific discipline (Electrical or Mechanical).
  • 5+ years of industrial construction experience as a QCx lead with hands-on field installation and/or QCx inspection experience.
  • Experience in a quality control role with extensive knowledge of structural, electrical, mechanical and controls equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand critical project documentation such as test plans, design documents, specifications, Cx test scripts, etc.
  • Must use independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to work with internal and external partners (project managers, superintendents, operations teams, commissioning agents, etc.) in a positive, productive way that encourages collaboration.
  • Strong testing proficiency using quality engineering testing techniques, methodologies and best practices leveraging test management tools.
  • Familiarity with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and/or P6.
  • Familiarity with BIM 360, Autodesk, Bluebeam, CxAlloy, Smartsheets
  • Ability to apply initiative and judgment to define and perform tasks, sometimes complex, and sees the bigger picture.
  • Quality Management certifications with emphasis in Construction.
  • Resume experience showing former superintendent, foreman duties as an electrical, mechanical contractor is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review the contract documents, Owner Project Requirements, and Basis of Design for familiarity.
  • Review the QCx plan and commissioning schedule.
  • Develop the mechanical commissioning schedule including all inter-dependencies (electrical, controls, etc) for the mechanical and process systems
  • Attend the daily Startup and Cx meeting and further develop the mechanical commissioning look ahead using construction complete dates for the mechanical systems
  • As required, attend site MEP coordination meetings, pull planning meetings, first of kind (FOK) meetings, preparatory meetings, and any other project coordinator level meetings, deemed necessary by the GC and Owner.
  • Review Level 2 inspections which include installation verification to the drawings and specs, field inspect FOK installs and pre-Energization Inspection
  • Provide a Weekly / Monthly review of the Commissioning Schedule and Master Construction Schedule line items that relate to level 3 and level 4 commissioning activities. Report to the site construction teams any concerns as they relate to the level 2 construction complete
  • Signoff on all Level 2 QAQC activities
  • Log and track of all Level 2 & Level 3 issues / discrepancies in the Cx software and follow the discrepancy through its corrective action and subsequent inspection
  • Develop pre-functional inspection checklists with the vendors for all major mechanical equipment.
  • Provide general oversight of GC & Mechanical Subcontractor QC plans. Provide feedback to the GC and client where deviations exist from the Division 1 specifications related to QC.
  • Conduct field observations of mechanical scope to ensure installation and operational function are in compliance with the drawings, specifications, industry standards
  • Provide oversight of receipt inspections of major mechanical equipment as it arrives to the job site.
  • Ensure NCR / deficiency log items are closed out prior to start-up and acceptance testing
  • Attend 100% FOK equipment energizations and vendor Level 3 startup activities.
  • Oversee the execution of the sitewide mechanical installations which includes: qualified installer and training tracking log, qualified installer identification methods, installation quality checklist, hydro and pneumatic pressure tests plans, weld documentation, flushing plans and procedures, and routine field inspections.
  • Oversee Chilled Water Systems including Water and/or Air Cooled chillers, Cooling Towers
  • Oversee Process Water Systems
  • Oversee Air Compressor Systems, dryers, receiver tanks
  • Oversee Vacuum Systems
  • Oversee MAU, RTU, MCU, FCU, FFU, ERV, EUH, split system units, and CRAC equipment
  • Oversee HVAC ductwork distribution systems
  • Oversee Temperature, Pressure, and Flow Detectors
  • Oversee Dust Collection Systems
  • Oversee Leak Detection Systems
  • Oversee Smoke Exhaust & General Exhaust Systems
  • Oversee Humidifiers
  • Oversee Heat Exchangers
  • Oversee Tanks & Pumps
  • Oversee Exhaust Systems
  • Oversee VFD's
