About The Position

Mechanical Project Designer 1 for IMEG Consultants Corp to work at our Ontario, CA loc. May work remotely a portion of each week, after initial period of fully in-person work. Engineering analysis, design, & implementation oversight of mechanical systems for vertical building industry. Train. Mentor. Lead design efforts (as Project Manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects) for analysis of HVAC, plumbing, & fire protection systems. Collab w/ senior staff for delivery of larger & high complexity projects. Use engineering software & tools to create detailed designs, specs, & calcs according to code requirements [reqs] & IMEG standards. Interact w/ clients to understand needs, gather project reqs, & communicate technical info. Build & maintain client relationships. Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, & scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines/objectives. Document client design decisions & instructions while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete & fee expended. Analyze engineering problems & propose solutions. Collab w/ senior engineers & consultants to develop solutions. Provide in-process design reviews of HVAC, plumbing & fire protection system design, calcs, & specs. Implement QC processes to ensure engineering designs & solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards & client requirements. Stay current w/ industry trends, emerging tech, & best practices in mechanical engineering. Contribute to R&D & innovation efforts. Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work. ID & mitigate potential safety risks associated w/ mechanical systems. Collab w/ cross-functional/multidisciplinary teams, incl other engineers, architects, & project managers to deliver integrated solutions for clients/execute consulting projects that meet project goals & client expectations. ID potential project problems & seek advice from the PM. Oversee projects through bidding & construction admin phases. Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, & lift objects up to 25 lbs. Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach w/ hands or arms, & grasp or pull. Limited exposure to outside weather conditions & loud noises. Little travel may be involved within CA to visit clients/job sites. Travel not to exceed 60 days/year; length of a single trip not to exceed 5 days. Must have Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or rel field; 3 yrs relevant exp in building design consulting industry; and required skills. Alternatively, must have Associate’s degree in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Engineering, or rel field; 7 yrs relevant exp in building design consulting or construction industry; and required skills. Alternatively, must have Certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Engineering, or rel field; 7 yrs relevant exp in building design consulting or construction industry; and required skills. Requires skills (3 yrs exp) in: design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in production of technical plans and specifications; principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems; standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software and BIM software; MS Office Suite incl Excel and Outlook. Requirements
