Mechanical Product Engineer

Bosch Group•Owatonna, MN

About The Position

Bosch Mobility Aftermarket is seeking a Mechanical Product Engineer to design and develop new products, redesign existing products, and oversee prototype delivery and testing to verify form, fit, function, and quality. The engineer works with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, to specification, and within budget, and is responsible for project engineering documentation, specifications, and technical data. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously. The engineer directs the design and development of plastic components using manufacturing processes such as high- and low-pressure injection molding, thermal forming, and additive manufacturing. Responsibilities include converting two-dimensional industrial designs into manufacturable three-dimensional components, conducting mold-flow analysis and shrink-rate calculations, and developing products and tooling that meet customer specifications. The role uses engineering methods and tools such as GD&T, CAD, FMEA, and mathematical analysis. The engineer maintains CAD models and drawings in SolidWorks/PDM or Creo/Windchill, collaborates with global engineering teams, and prepares project documentation including design reviews, specifications, wiring diagrams, and technical prints. The role also involves creating components in Bosch’s SAP ERP system and managing the Engineering Change Request process as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; BSME preferred.
  • 3–5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Proven design skills, including knowledge of similar products, conceptual layouts, component location, and 3-D solid modeling; FEA analysis where required.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or Creo CAD and supporting PDM systems such as Windchill.
  • Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Baan, or similar.
  • Experience with bills of materials, engineering change orders, model shop orders, GD&T, and FMEAs.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and proficiency with Design for Manufacturing principles.
