Mechanical Plumbing Consultant I
About The Position
The Mechanical Plumbing Consultant I role at Salas O’Brien involves preparing simple and routine plans, designs, and calculations following standard engineering practices and procedures. This position performs individual aspects of mechanical/plumbing engineering for assigned projects, including HVAC systems (Split system/Package Heat Pumps, Chilled Water/Hot Water Hydronics, Steam/Condensate, Constant volume and variable volume air distribution systems), Plumbing systems (Medical gas systems, Hot and cold water/waste and vent systems, Compressed air systems), and Fire Protection (Performance drawings and specification for wet pipe and dry pipe systems). The role requires independent problem-solving, decision-making ability, and application of engineering principles. The consultant will also perform self-quality control, seek peer review, meet with clients regarding electrical engineering design and projects, and perform field work to document existing conditions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an Architectural Engineering Degree
- Ability to work in Revit/Microsoft Office/ HVAC Load Analysis Program (HAP or TRACE)
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service capabilities.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to drive to project sites and perform customary field work.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Able to work in the United States.
- Process correspondence efficiently, accurately and confidentially.
- Work independently and in a team environment

- Passing Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred
Responsibilities
