About The Position

GCC & Associates LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Plumbing to provide project management, scheduling, cost and change order control, and review of submittals and requests for information for a portfolio of Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) projects at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS). This role involves supporting projects such as replacing aging infrastructure, renovating buildings, and addressing deficiencies found in facility condition assessments. The engineer will coordinate closely with facility staff to ensure construction does not disrupt ongoing hospital operations, utilities, or patient access. Additionally, the engineer will oversee the commissioning and startup of new systems, ensuring projects are fully tested, documented, and ready for turnover to the VA over the next five years.

Requirements

Licensed professional with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Minimum of six (6) years of experience in both design and construction.
Ability to quickly understand and master the requirements of local state and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each considering the Requirements of the Project.
Possess Communication, Language, and Software Skills.
Ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.

Responsibilities

Provide project management, scheduling, cost and change order control for NRM projects.
Review submittals and requests for information.
Conduct quality assurance inspections, constructability and phasing reviews.
Monitor safety and code compliance.
Coordinate closely with facility staff to minimize disruption to hospital operations, utilities, and patient access.
