About The Position

The Mechanical Piping Designer will support the delivery of 2D and 3D engineering & design packages for projects from various markets and industries, with a focus on piping systems. We focus on the heavy industrial market – building products (roofing, asphalt, insulation, gypsum; etc.), cement & lime plants, paper mills, chemical plants, sand & aggregate plants, oil & gas processing, steel mills, and other manufacturing plants. This role involves development of piping, mechanical equipment arrangements, and material handling systems. The engineering and design work links with collaboration among other disciplines, participation in quality reviews, and client interactions.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in technical drawing or related field, or a minimum of 4 years of related trade experience.
  • Familiar with mechanical engineering industry standards of practice.
  • Within a project team, efficiently produce project 3-D models and construction documents of mechanical and piping systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical specifications.
  • Autodesk Suite of products; AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and understand orthographic drawings
  • Ability to create 3D models from point cloud scans and Faro software
  • Ability to create 2D orthographic drawings from models for communication of a design
  • Ability to interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies

Nice To Haves

  • Autodesk Plant P&ID experience is a plus
  • BIM360, Navisworks, and Bluebeam

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate your design recommendations to our project team, construction contractors and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and phone as necessary.
  • Work independently or as part of a team on projects with other technical staff to develop the mechanical systems designs that are needed, assuring that the work is accurate and coordinated, and that the quality assurance measures have been followed.
  • Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements.
  • Provide excellent problem-solving skills, be able to find solutions to unique challenges innovative, resourceful, and flexible.
  • Ensure mechanical systems comply with safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure development of consistent and high-quality project deliverables.
  • Able to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and customer service.
