About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the mechanical upkeep of the distribution center and will maintain, troubleshoot and repair: all conveyor, sortation, and related material handling equipment; heating; HVAC, plumbing and/or other specialized areas to ensure proper, safe and efficient mechanical/electrical operations within the Distribution Center. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician installs new, or modifies existing, equipment/systems, and as necessary designs, fabricates and installs specialized equipment. This role will be responsible for the preventative maintenance schedule and logging all maintenance related issues and actions taken.

Requirements

Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and welding.
Effective and clear verbal and written communication skills.
Familiar with OSHA standards.
Must be able to operate all shop equipment and hand tools.
Always maintains safe work practices including wearing PPE, using LOTO and following ARC Flash requirements.
Technical aptitude, exceptional organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
Strong critical thinking, problem analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2-3 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance field with demonstrated preventative maintenance experience in material handling systems
State licensure or proven knowledge and experience in one or more areas (Electrical, Welding, HVAC, Plumbing, Electro-hydraulics, mechanical and electrical drive systems, etc.)
Willingness to work various shifts to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair a variety of building operation systems to include plumbing, electrical, heating, refrigeration, sprinklers, etc. Inspects completed repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
Maintain the appearance and integrity of the physical facility.
Performs general construction installations, maintenance and repairs. (I.e. carpentry, painting, plumbing, flooring, and roof repairs).
Performs minor electrical maintenance and repairs of lighting and supply systems.
Perform safety inspections and record maintenance as assigned.
Cleans and lubricates machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings.
Replaces or repairs machine belts.
Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.
Patches or replaces plaster or plaster board and paints walls, ceilings, and trim of building.
Performs battery change on power equipment.
Clears clogged drains and replaces plumbing fixtures.
Requisitions new materials, tools, and supplies as needed.
Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.
Completes and maintains maintenance related logs, documentation related to maintenance actions, parts usage, etc.
Estimates costs, prepares requisitions as required and contacts vendors to order parts and services as necessary.
Understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment
Comply with all company policies and procedures
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by your supervisor
