About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician performs a variety of preventive maintenance and machine repair duties according to manufacturer equipment service manuals, factory guidelines, and management’s instructions; in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) in the maintenance department and within GMP and ‘food grade work’ guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, vocational or college education preferred
  • Two years’ experience in a maintenance environment; electrical, machine or multi-craft maintenance technical certificate may be considered for substitute of experience
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail in the maintenance area
  • Ability to complete tasks under limited supervision
  • Strong written communication skills with an emphasis on technical documents and records
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
  • Ability to stand for extended hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear any required PPE
  • Other physical requirements include bi-lateral hand and wrist movement and occasional squatting, bending, and twisting
  • Ability to work around a variation of different smells and aromas
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), SOP’s, equipment, and safety practices
  • Comply with and promote all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations and the wearing of all required PPE
  • Promptly address mechanical breakdown issues, production line adjustment issues, equipment swap-out requirements (lot coders, conveyors, sealing / closure equipment such as bag sealers and capping machines, etc.)
  • Identify and assist in resolution of any safety issues in regard to any aspect of the overall facility, production lines and the warehouse
  • Facilitate and maintain 5-S implementation and ongoing requirements
  • Assist in projects for facility improvement, capability expansion and efficiency improvements
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary
