The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will assist with routine maintenance on school vehicles, lawn mowers, and small equipment, including oil changes, tire checks, and filter replacements. This role involves inspecting and repairing mechanical components such as engines, belts, brakes, and hoses under supervision, and helping to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using basic diagnostic tools. The technician will also repair and maintain door hardware, including locks, hinges, door closers, handles, and kick plates throughout school buildings, and adjust and align doors to ensure smooth operation and proper security. Additionally, the position supports maintenance staff with building equipment repairs, maintains and organizes tools, parts, and supplies, follows safety procedures, and assists in keeping accurate maintenance and repair records. Snow removal and entering/closing out school work orders are also part of the duties. This is a full-time, non-exempt position within the Custodial and Maintenance division, working a 260-day (12-month) year, and reports to the Custodial and Maintenance Building Lead and Director of Buildings and Grounds.
