About The Position

AKHIRE is recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in Anchorage, AK. This is a full-time, permanent position with a pay rate of $29.00-$30.25 per hour. The role involves inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and plant equipment, including pumps, valves, tanks, and piping systems. Responsibilities include performing scheduled preventative maintenance, assisting with unexpected repairs, supporting plant startups and shutdowns, and diagnosing equipment concerns. The technician will also assist with equipment installation and removal, monitor equipment conditions for safe operations, maintain records, and care for tools and equipment. Collaboration with internal technicians, contractors, vendors, and customers is expected, as is assisting with purchasing and operational documentation. The role also involves identifying improvements for equipment reliability and facility operations, maintaining an organized and safe work area, participating in on-call coverage, and understanding equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and process diagrams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Two to five years of experience in mechanical, maintenance, industrial or, equipment repair experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screening.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Higher education degree preferred
  • Technical or college-level education is preferred.
  • Experience involving pumps, piping, valves, HVAC, plumbing, brazing, controls preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and plant equipment.
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and assist with unexpected equipment repairs.
  • Provide maintenance support during plant startups, shutdowns, and outages.
  • Work with equipment including pumps, valves, tanks, piping systems, and associated monitoring components.
  • Diagnose equipment concerns and communicate maintenance or repair needs to appropriate management.
  • Assist with equipment installation, removal, testing, and return to service.
  • Monitor equipment and facility conditions to help maintain safe and dependable operations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, operational, safety, and quality records.
  • Properly use, inspect, and care for tools and equipment.
  • Work with internal technicians, contractors, vendors, and customers to complete maintenance and service projects.
  • Assist with work-related purchasing, requisitions, receiving, and other operational documentation as needed.
  • Look for practical ways to improve equipment reliability and overall facility operations.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work area.
  • Participate in scheduled on-call coverage and provide additional support when operational needs require it.
  • Ability to understand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, process diagrams, and written operating procedures.
