About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician serves the Advanced Automation Infrastructure team and is on the front line of ZT Systems' automated assembly operations, keeping the mechanical systems that move and position products running reliably. You’ll maintain and troubleshoot conveyance, pneumatic systems, motors, and mechanical equipment while responding quickly to equipment failures and preventing recurring issues. This is an opportunity to build hands-on expertise at the center of next-generation manufacturing for one of the industry's leading hyperscale system integrators.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a trade school certification in a technical field and 5+ years of practical experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
  • Deep mechanical and electromechanical troubleshooting expertise in automated manufacturing, conveyance, material-handling, and production equipment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair conveyor systems, pneumatic actuators, stoppers, cylinders, motors, bearings, sensors, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of pneumatic systems, including air preparation, valves, regulators, cylinders, tubing, pressure regulation, and troubleshooting of intermittent failures.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, pneumatic schematics, electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, and OEM documentation to diagnose equipment problems efficiently.
  • Experience developing and executing preventive maintenance programs, identifying wear patterns, and proactively addressing equipment conditions before they result in downtime.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electromechanical problems across mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and controls interfaces, rather than working within a single discipline.
  • Strong ownership mentality with the ability to lead repairs independently, perform root-cause analysis, communicate issues clearly, and support continuous improvement across the automation system.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the owner for conveyance, pneumatic systems, and mechanical equipment supporting automated production cells.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex conveyors, pneumatic stoppers, actuators, motors, gearboxes, bearings, sensors, and electromechanical systems.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities across approximately 40 conveyance cells, identifying equipment degradation before it results in downtime.
  • Develop and maintain critical mechanical and pneumatic spare-parts inventory based on equipment criticality, failure history, and lead time.
  • Partner with the Robotics and Controls technicians to troubleshoot cross-functional equipment failures and provide backup support across automation systems.
  • Analyze recurring mechanical and pneumatic failures and lead root-cause and continuous-improvement efforts to improve equipment reliability and availability.
  • Crosstrain and provide intermediate backup support for the robotic systems to build team-wide knowledge and eliminate single points of knowledge.
