Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Temporary (5 months)

About The Position

This is a temporary position expected to last up to five months. You may be required to work all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will perform mechanical maintenance on baggage handling systems (conveyance), overhead doors, security gates and passenger loading bridges. You will work with crew that is responsible for proper and timely completion of both corrective and preventive maintenance and answering trouble calls. You will perform other mechanical and metal work as required, including welding, burning, grinding, turning, cutting, threading, drilling, and shaping parts using both stationary and portable power and hand tools.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience performing both preventive and corrective maintenance at the journey person level on airport baggage handling systems (conveyors) or a manufacturing or production mechanical equipment environment.
  • Strong skills as a machinist, welder, and mechanic.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
  • Strong team-oriented personable to work safely and effectively under considerable pressure with crewmembers of all crafts and airline customers to ensure highest level of service from equipment.
  • Must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
  • Must obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
  • Must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.

Nice To Haves

  • Structural welding certification
  • Knowledge of and experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Experience working with MS software

Responsibilities
