About The Position

The Department of Parks is currently seeking highly qualified and motivated applicants to fill an open Maintenance Operations Consultant position specializing in Wastewater Plant operations, collections systems, pump stations and force main systems. This position reports to the Facilities Management Maintenance Operations Branch located at Kentucky State Parks Central Office in Frankfort, KY. This position will work collaboratively with a wide range of Parks staff including Planning and Design professionals, Construction craftsmen and Master level tradesmen. Our goal is to maintain our State Parks to the highest standards. The position offers Parks travel perks and an inviting, friendly work atmosphere where you will be encouraged and supported. Responding applicants must be willing to travel to all KY State Parks to perform job duties. Some overnight travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Five years of experience in the maintenance or repair of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, or electrical systems.
  • Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the required experience on a year- for-year basis.
  • Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a level 2 or level 3 wastewater plant operator and collections is highly preferable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and other virtual meeting platforms is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise maintenance projects, repairs and process operations with the primary focus being wastewater treatment plants, collection systems and other components related to wastewater treatment operation.
  • Perform investigations, troubleshooting, repairs and audits of Park waste-water systems.
  • Develop project-scope documents, cost estimates, and project schedules for repairs and replacement.
  • Provide project status updates.
  • Utilize Parks project and cost-tracking tools via Excel spreadsheets and other database tools such as FM Works.
  • Comply with established Operational Maintenance Branch policies for maintaining accurate records of all projects, repairs, and Agency required documentation.
  • Provide technical directions and training to Park wastewater plant staff to ensure compliance with all WW permit requirements, plant operations, testing, and regulatory reporting functions.
  • Monitor safety compliance, and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Assist Parks staff with resources and training to obtain or maintain required WW Plant operator certifications
