About The Position

Mechanical Asset Inventory Specialist supports Planning and Utilities in inventory, documentation, and verification of mechanical physical assets across the BYU campus. This 3/4-time position is responsible for capturing detailed facility asset data—ensuring data accuracy, and completeness. The position requires attention to detail, and strong coordination with engineers and C N A.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • 2 years of experience in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Information Systems, Business, or related field. OR 2 years of experience in Facilities Operations, Asset Management, Construction Documentation, Technical Data Management, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines across multiple assignments
  • High attention to detail

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with technical and leadership personnel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database software

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Experience with facility condition assessments (CNA), asset lifecycle documentation, or campus-scale asset inventories.
  • Familiarity with Assetworks or similar enterprise asset management systems.
  • Experience working in higher education or large institutional environments.
  • Experience using 360-degree imaging equipment and digital documentation platforms.
  • Familiarity with facility systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building envelope)
  • Experience with enterprise asset management systems

  • Facility Asset Inventory & Documentation
  • Data Capture, Entry & Quality Control
  • Independent Field Coordination
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to capture/validate asset information
  • Assist the planning department with temporary workload
