About The Position

Applied Technical Services (ATS) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with at least five years of experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks Simulation. The role supports analysis, testing, and validation of mechanical systems and structures, including evaluating structural, thermal, fatigue, and vibration performance and making engineering recommendations to improve performance, reliability, and safety. Responsibilities include developing and analyzing 3D models and assemblies, performing and validating FEA simulations, supporting product development, documenting engineering methods and results, reviewing designs against standards and engineering practices, investigating mechanical failures, and contributing to design optimization and verification. The position collaborates with engineering, project, manufacturing, and customer stakeholders to resolve technical challenges. The posting describes the position as full-time and located in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte, North Carolina. However, its Work Conditions section describes primarily remote work, occasional office attendance coordinated in advance, flexible hours, and duties associated with a part-time report-review role. It also states that the Senior Consultant will not communicate directly with clients and that questions and findings must be routed through the assigned Project Manager. ATS provides the software, hardware, and access required for assigned work. Applicants must be U.S. Persons because the role involves access to information subject to U.S. export controls under ITAR. Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. ATS is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
