About The Position

Voyager Lunar Systems (formerly Astrobotic Technology) is seeking a Mechanical Integration and Test Engineer to support planning, execution, and documentation of the integration and validation of requirement compliance through testing of mechanical components and systems of spacecraft, rovers, and lunar infrastructure.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Industrial Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience integrating or testing complex electro-mechanical and/or fluid systems.
  • Experience with technical writing, documentation, and planning.
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and lifecycle management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing needs and requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3).
  • Must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Experience with instrumentation, control, and data acquisition.
  • Experience with environmental testing such as Shock, Vibration, Thermal Vacuum, Acoustic, and fluid system testing.
  • Experience in the aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle industries.
  • Experience complying with Safety, Quality, ESD, and FOD practices and standards.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
  • Experience collaborating to perform testing with third party test houses or organizations.
  • Experience with engineered lifting and handling operations.
  • Shop skills: Hands-on aptitude and mechanical craftspersonship, 3D printing, mill and lathe operation.
  • Software: SolidWorks, VBA, Python, Arduino, Linux, LabView, Siemens TestLab, LabJack.

Responsibilities

  • Support design review and approval from a Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), and Design for Test (DFT) perspective.
  • Support Test Plan development with Systems and Design Engineers.
  • Support Assembly Drawing development with Design Engineers.
  • Write detailed Integration Procedures and Test Procedures.
  • Ensure readiness of supporting items to perform integration or test operations such as assembly parts, fasteners, and consumables, resource coordination and scheduling, supplies, tooling, and tool calibration verification.
  • Design ground support equipment, fixtures, assembly aids, and other tooling to support integration and test operations.
  • Hold Integration Readiness Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews.
  • Execute integration procedures and test procedures.
  • Operate test facilities such as Shaker Tables and Thermal Vacuum Chambers.
  • Support off-site operations at third party testing facilities.
  • Process Test Data and write Test Reports.
  • Provide labor and cost estimates for integration and test work.
  • Work with analytical and design engineers to understand test results.
  • Work in an integrated team including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and leadership across our propulsion, thermal, mechanisms, electrical, and structural teams.
