Mechanical Inspector 3 - Day Shift
About The Position
FM Industries is a manufacturing solutions provider specializing in build-to-print work, precision-machined components, anodizing, and engineered thermal spray coatings. The Mechanical Inspector 3 performs precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify that they meet specifications. The role ensures conformance using calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection, interprets customer drawings and specifications, and refers to company work instructions and process travelers. The position is on the day shift, scheduled from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. FM Industries has locations in Fremont and Livermore, California; the posting does not specify which location this opening is assigned to.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience performing in-process and final inspection, preferably in a machining, automotive, or aerospace business.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
- Strong CMM operation experience.
- Ability to correctly use and interpret measuring tools, including weight gauges, micrometers, linear calipers, gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards.
- Visual inspection experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify compliance with specifications.
- Use calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection to ensure conformance requirements are met.
- Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process travelers.
- Apply basic blueprint reading and shop math, including trigonometry.
- Inspect first-off parts from manufacturing work centers.
- Collect measurement data for First Article Inspection (FAI) reports.
- Collect and provide data required for critical-part Final Inspection Reports (FIRs).
