About The Position

Responsible for supervising crew members by ensuring productivity, safety, and compliance with company policies and procedures. Provides excellence in the management and delivery of the project, in-line with the client’s expectations. This role involves directing, guiding, and coaching craft personnel to ensure activities on site are understood and follow established processes through quality checks. The Mechanical Foreman fosters a culture of continuous improvement and ensures that the project utilizes Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Managements Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and technical procedures. They are also responsible for managing quality control programs, maintaining work standards, and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure morale, productivity, and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a construction environment.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Advanced level of knowledge in Safety and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising crew members by ensuring productivity, safety, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Providing excellence in the management and delivery of the project, in-line with the client’s expectations.
  • Reporting information about site activities including routing, fence crossings, traffic flow, water flow, moving farm animals, and hazards to the Superintendent.
  • Utilizing and directing staff for daily construction activities.
  • Identifying potential workflow and staffing issues.
  • Evaluating on-site assessment prior to commencing work to ensure that the job is ready and address any concerns.
  • Translating general work requirements into a prioritized work plan and communicating it to the crew.
  • Directing, guiding, and coaching Craft to ensure activities on site are understood and following established processes through quality checks.
  • Following processes for systems and communication lines on site and ensure implementation is consistent.
  • Assisting with managing Craft personnel.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring that project is utilizing Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Managements Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and technical procedures.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential employee relations issues.
  • Assigning tasks and overseeing the execution of the work including quality and production.
  • Inspecting and measuring completed work.
  • Preparing records and reports.
  • Recognizing, addressing, and resolving issues among crew members.
  • Managing quality control program to ensure processes are implemented according to the plan and are consistent.
  • Maintaining work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure morale, productivity, and safety.
  • Providing the required documents, drawings and other forms to active projects for monitoring and maintaining the EMS.
  • Ensuring all required permits are received before commencing work.
  • Ensuring training is provided and certifications are maintained on field staff to comply with EMS requirements.
  • Leading by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
  • Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.
  • Ensuring Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Adhering to and ensuring all site team members understand standard operating procedures.
  • Ensuring new hires receive job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
  • Leading and supporting the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing systems in place.
  • Following safety and security procedures and determining appropriate action.
  • Reporting potentially unsafe conditions and using materials and equipment properly.
