About The Position

This internship position at NASA Johnson Space Center supports the International Space Station (ISS) contract within the Systems Engineering department. The intern will provide engineering support services and resources for activities related to the ISS, focusing on managing many of the station's systems. The role involves assisting with the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems for the ISS. Interns will work alongside engineers on tasks such as creating CAD models, performing stress analysis, developing prototypes, and supporting component testing. There will be opportunities to collaborate with senior engineers and team members on projects involving mechanical systems like landing gear, propulsion systems, or structural components.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering major
  • Experience in Windows or Linux based MATLAB is highly desired.
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage tasks successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the management of interface control documents (ICD). ICDs provide a record of interface information including drawings, diagrams, tables, and textual information generated for a project.
  • Support the management of the on-orbit core software and Interface Control Documents including the integration and programmatic approval of ICD changes and document revisions.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of payload interface requirements and help with the processing of ICD updates by completing verification and reporting documents.
