This role is for a Mechanical Engineering Section Manager in York, PA, supporting Combat Vehicle Product Lines and Combat Mission Systems (CMS) programs. The role also involves overseeing the Hydraulics Lab operational capability and associated expenses.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar degree with 8+ years of applicable experience
Experience in design, integration, test and product support of complex mechanical systems.
Demonstrated team leadership and coaching skills.
Mature interpersonal skills involving interfacing, influencing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers.
Ability to have difficult conversations.
Ability to address and remove roadblocks and drive to completion.
Ability to define and resolve engineering problems involving conflicting design, contractual, policy, or technical requirements across functional areas.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

20 years of mechanical engineering and related field experience.
5 or more years of supervisory engineering experience.
Knowledge of relevant military design and drawing standards.
Experience in design of mechanical systems from concept through development, build, test, production and support.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
Program leadership experience in developing and managing SOWs, budgets, schedules, planning and execution.
Significant proposal and Basis of Estimate (BOE) development experience.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of 10-20 engineers and contractors in the design, development, production support, and integration of various mechanical systems for recovery, artillery, and combat vehicles.
Develop engineering staff through work assignments and training to ensure technical competence and a competitive skill mix.
Ensure efficient utilization of staff, manage budgets, and make strategic decisions about workforce balance and development.
Hold monthly reviews with staff, provide performance feedback, and solicit input from stakeholders to foster collaborative career development.
Provide mid-year and year-end performance assessments including providing positive and constructive feedback.
Be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and relevance of functional processes, as well as compliance with applicable standards.
Integrate and standardize functional processes across Combat Mission Systems engineering, capture historical performance records, and maintain Engineering Estimating Tables and Cost Estimating Relationships.
Ensure the availability and efficiency of functional engineering design and analysis tools and services.
Provide technical expertise to programs and projects through participation in design reviews, life cycle management (LCM) reviews, and bid and proposal support.
Staff, maintain and oversee the Hydraulics Lab operational capability located in York, PA, and oversee overhead maintenance expenses and Engineering Capital Investment Expenses (CAPEX) related to the lab.
Access and safely navigate production areas which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces.
Comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
