About The Position

The Mechanical Intern will support the Mechanical Operations department by managing multiple asset utilization and repair projects across the CSX Network. There will be a focus on concentration of mechanical equipment reliability, exposure to a variety of data analytics, and technology reporting tools. This program is a paid 12-month internship based in Jacksonville, FL. The selected candidate will work full-time in office during the summer (5/24/27 to 7/30/27), and in-office for the remainder of the internship (scheduling to be coordinated around class schedule).

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Logistics or a related major field of study from an accredited institution.
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale).
  • Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard workweek)
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership/executive audiences
  • Work within established deadlines
  • Willing and able to the days and hours as assigned
  • Successfully complete a background check and drug test

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in Engineering, Statistics, Business Analytics, Logistics or a related major field of study from an accredited institution.
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale).
  • 1 or more years of non-supervisory experience required in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or Logistics

Responsibilities

  • Review, design and implement analytics platform to monitor mechanical car reliability, repair and production
  • Partners with multiple departments (Facilities, Mechanical Car/Locomotive and Transportation) to support the CSX Network while also providing reliable mechanical equipment.
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities assigned by Manager.
