About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern supports the organization in an area related to the student’s current area of graduate or undergraduate engineering study. Learns skills related to their degree while also supporting departments across the organization with engineering tasks. Work is performed under immediate supervision and provides a real-world application of classroom knowledge. This position is for the Summer 2026 Term and will be an onsite position in Huntsville, AL.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level Engineering degree program in relevant area (Mechanical Engineering degree concentration preferred) at an accredited college/university at the time of the internship (Summer 2026 or Fall 2026).
  • Required minimum GPA is 3.0.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Knowledge of office administration and procedures.
  • Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully.
  • Interact with a diverse array of customers and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work with supervision and have accountability for accurate and complete results.
  • Be extremely organized and exceptionally detail oriented.
  • Work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Be energized by a fast-paced work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Community and/or campus involvement is preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the use of CAD software including Solid Works, Inventor, and/or Creo.
  • Knowledge of hardware components and assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Experience hands on work experience in support of on-going projects.
  • Provide administrative and technical support.
  • Deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment by managing time and effort across multiple projects.
  • Support unique and complex Dept of War and Army engineering efforts located in Huntsville, Alabama.
  • Other duties as assigned.
