About The Position

The Special Projects Group of KPFF is seeking an ambitious and initiative-driven Junior or Senior level Mechanical Engineering student for a summer internship in the Seattle Office. This internship is approximately 40 hours a week for up to 90 days. Responsibilities will vary depending on the project and individual intern. The group focuses on civil, design-build transportation, structural, industrial, and waterfront infrastructure projects across the US, with a strong emphasis on the West Coast and Pacific Northwest. They often act as prime consultants, tackling unusual, multi-discipline challenges that require innovative and team-oriented solutions.

Requirements

  • Ability to work collaboratively with project team members and clients on a variety of projects
  • Detail oriented and desire for continued learning
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Clear communication and writing skills
  • General understanding of stormwater hydrology and hydraulics basics
  • General understanding of SolidWorks

Responsibilities

  • Assist a mechanical engineer with various tasks associated with project design, including calculations, plan production and review, and cost estimating.
  • Assist with project site visits. The applicant may be required to navigate through a jobsite and must comply with all Company and Site safety requirements in the office and on the jobsite.
