About The Position

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Scottsdale, Arizona. Over 10-12 weeks, you will assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry while working alongside experienced engineers and consultants. This is a paid, mentored internship with hands-on project experience. You will support project coordination, documentation, budget awareness, and collaboration across disciplines while contributing to education-focused work for the team you would join. The role also offers exposure to complex renovation and expansion projects across the Southwest, helping advance high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
Strong interest in design consulting
Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

Assist with design portions of projects related to mechanical systems according to code and IMEG standards.
Support engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry.
Research commercially available equipment for project applications.
Help maintain project documentation, including project design notebooks and permanent record files.
Assist with coordination of design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier partners.
Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.
Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
