About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Scottsdale, Arizona. Over 10-12 weeks, you will assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry while working alongside experienced engineers and consultants. This is a paid, mentored internship with hands-on project experience. You will support project coordination, documentation, budget awareness, and collaboration across disciplines while contributing to education-focused work for the team you would join. The role also offers exposure to complex renovation and expansion projects across the Southwest, helping advance high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of projects related to mechanical systems according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Support engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry.
  • Research commercially available equipment for project applications.
  • Help maintain project documentation, including project design notebooks and permanent record files.
  • Assist with coordination of design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier partners.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.
  • Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
