About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups with over 60 years of experience serving the nuclear industry. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology. Reporting to the Engineering Manager for Retube Tooling, the Mechanical Engineering Analyst will support Retubing projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing and/or overseeing the conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing, delivery, and execution support of tooling systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience practical experience, particularly in engineering and tooling design.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  • Demonstrated ability to support complex and parallel technical projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligible for Professional Engineering Designation an asset.
  • Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgement in tooling development, implementing design adaptations and modifications.
  • Supporting procurement, manufacturing, testing and qualification of Retube Tools.
  • Assignments normally include Tooling design and development, investigation of design difficulties, equipment testing, process studies, cost estimating and preparation of technical reports & documentation, reviewing supplier documentation and investigation of difficulties experienced during manufacturing and/or final assembly.
  • Work is focused scope and generally related to one field or discipline of engineering, although a knowledge of related fields of engineering and an appreciation of the impact of the work on other areas may be required.
  • Technical documentation is reviewed and accepted for accuracy, soundness of engineering judgement and feasibility - as well as compliance with QA policies and engineering procedures.
  • Executes assigned work in alignment with project quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Assists with the planning of project work so as to manage deliverables, balance workloads and dependencies on other team members.
  • Ensures all project training and qualifications records are up-to-date, and required training and qualifications are completed/updated on time.
