About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-In-Training with 2+ years of experience to join the Reno, Nevada (NV) office's MEP team. This role involves utilizing technical software programs to analyze, produce, and quality control deliverables for clients. The engineer will solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to realize client visions for the future built environment. The position requires developing familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and client-specific practices, procedures, and standards. The role includes performing general mechanical engineering tasks and supporting the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team specifically with large-scale HVAC design for various project types such as Airports, Facilities, and Universities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in a similar mechanical engineering role
  • An ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering
  • EIT/EI certification or have the ability to obtain certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands and solve problems for our clients
  • Positive attitude and an impressive work ethic
  • Clear sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines

  • Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, and/or SolidWorks

Responsibilities

  • Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
  • Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
  • Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting various project managers as required.
  • Support our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team specifically working on large scale HVAC design.
  • Work on projects that may include Airports, Facilities, and Universities.
