About The Position

ACCIONA Energía is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to improve the reliability, availability, and performance of wind turbines by conducting mechanical failure analysis, supporting troubleshooting activities, developing technical solutions, and collaborating with operations, maintenance, and OEM teams. The ideal candidate has experience with wind turbine mechanical systems, root cause analysis (RCA), reliability engineering, and maintenance strategies, with a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technically astute, strong attention to detail, and capable of expertise-based problem solving
  • Commitment to produce high-quality work and make decisions based on established quality standards, policies and procedures
  • Excels in collaborative team environments and independent work, with well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy including MS Office

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for the operation and maintenance of utility-scale wind turbines.
  • Analyze mechanical failures and equipment performance to identify root causes and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Evaluate turbine operational data, maintenance records, SCADA information, and condition monitoring reports to identify trends and improve asset performance.
  • Support troubleshooting of major mechanical components, including gearboxes, main bearings, main shafts, pitch systems, yaw systems, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, and lubrication systems.
  • Develop engineering recommendations to improve turbine reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency—including the implementation of engineering modifications, retrofits, and fleet-wide improvement projects.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance (CBM) programs.
  • Collaborate with field technicians, site managers, reliability engineers, and wind turbine manufacturers (OEMs) to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Review engineering drawings, technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and service bulletins.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance personnel when required.
