Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical needs at all levels of personnel and management.
  • Experience with machine/fabrication/welding shop techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of cost estimating procedures.
  • Capable of providing value engineering judgments.
  • Knowledge of engineering Bills of Material structure.
  • Strong emphasis on the ability to organize and manage; ability to multitask is a must.
  • AutoCAD Mechanical and Microsoft Office software knowledge is required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods using a desktop computer.
  • Willing to put in extra time when needed.
  • Ability to be self-motivated as well as the ability to take directions well.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to do simple structural stress analysis and calculation.
  • Have a good understanding of drafting standards and weld symbols.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years related experience in project engineering or mechanical design (full time or engineering internships) is preferred.
  • Inventor/Vault/SAP is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and review project layout drawings, specifications, and scope for new projects.
  • Support Project Management and Sales to assure customer and contract satisfaction while maintaining hardware integrity.
  • Ensure total design traceability of standard equipment as well as specific project-related modifications.
  • Coordinate interfaces for hardware compatibility with Project Management, Electrical Engineering, and Process Engineering.
  • Specify, recommend, and approve buy-out items and auxiliary components.
  • Recommend cost savings alternatives through value engineering techniques.
  • Support Purchasing and Quality Control in determining vendor hardware acceptability.
  • Attend project meetings with customers, engineers, vendors, and manufacturers as necessary.
  • Approve/certify vendor mechanical submittals and review design calculations as necessary.
  • Initiate mechanical Bills of Materials through established policies and procedures for release to production.
  • Identify, evaluate, and correct potential mechanical problems and communicate corrective actions to appropriate parties.
  • Support the aftermarket group for machine design retrofit projects and refurbishment, including reviewing project layout drawings, specifications, and scope; creating retrofit BoM kits; and designing items for retrofit as required.
