Leidos is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the NISC IV Program in the Eastern Service Area. This position is expected to travel 25%. The role involves performing HVAC, HVAC controls, chillers, boiler, water distribution, ductwork, plumbing, and fire protection systems design for FAA facilities. Responsibilities include conducting on-site surveys for design development, generating detailed sketches and specifications, participating in construction and final inspections, and coordinating design components with multi-disciplinary teams. The engineer will also prepare Autocad construction drawings, site-specific specifications, contract documents, and independent cost estimates. Project management tasks, including safety plans, sequence of work, and cutover plans, are also part of the role. Additionally, the position requires generating and coordinating Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communication plans, and project risk registers to meet Operational Risk Management (ORM) requirements. Coordination and completion of Work Permits for potential lead and asbestos impacts, participation in various project meetings, and planning/scheduling of construction activities are essential. The role also involves managing and participating in on-site cutovers, testing, and restoration of facilities, as well as preparing and updating project progress reports. The Mechanical Engineer will manage multiple projects, review contractor submittals and internal design reviews, track and reconcile project exceptions, and provide responses to RFIs and submittals. The ability to work independently, evaluate and apply engineering techniques, and provide technical assistance is crucial. Basic knowledge of multiple disciplines and the ability to communicate with stakeholders, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) are also required. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment and obtain/maintain FAA Public Trust Suitability.
