2027 Summer Internship (US) - Mechanical Engineer

Zebra Technologies•Holtsville, NY
•Hybrid

About The Position

Zebra’s summer internship program prepares students for entry into the business world by introducing them to the functions of the organization. Interns receive training and hands-on experience, take part in social and professional development activities, and have a professional mentor. This internship is with the Engineering Customer Response Team (ECRT), the sustaining engineering organization within Zebra’s Enterprise Mobile Computing division and its mechanical group. ECRT resolves customer and field-related issues, implements manufacturing and design improvements, and leads cost-reduction efforts and factory location transitions to help keep products reliable and cost-effective throughout their lifecycle. The intern will work on automating the generation of mechanical design requirements with AI and developing a tool that cross-references Joint Design Manufacturer (JDM) part drawing notes against Zebra Standards. The work will also establish a foundation for future LLM applications that generate functional mechanical design requirements using existing Zebra documentation and best practices. The role is hybrid, with three days per week in the Holtsville, New York office.
